About the role

Merge is hiring an Onboarding and Transaction Monitoring Analyst to support customer onboarding and ongoing transaction monitoring across fiat and stablecoin flows. You’ll conduct KYC/KYB reviews, screen customers and counterparties, and investigate and escalate transaction monitoring alerts.

This role is ideal for someone early in their AML career looking to gain hands-on experience in fintech and digital-asset compliance, with opportunities to grow into broader Compliance or Compliance Operations roles.

Resposibilities:Onboarding

• Conduct KYC/KYB reviews for individuals and businesses at onboarding
• Review corporate structures, UBOs, directors, shareholders and source of funds/wealth
• Perform CDD and, under guidance, EDD on higher-risk customers
• Run PEP, sanctions and adverse media screening and clear or escalate matches
• Assign risk classifications and flag inconsistencies or red flags in documentation
• Support periodic and event-driven customer reviews

Transaction Monitoring

• Review and work transaction monitoring alerts across fiat and stablecoin transactions
• Investigate unusual transaction patterns, velocity and counterparty activity
• Compare transaction behaviour against customer profile to assess consistency
• Document clear, evidence-based investigation conclusions
• Escalate suspicious activity per internal procedures; support STR/SAR case prep
• Review payment exceptions, rejected transactions and unusual beneficiary activity in partnership with Operations and Payments

Case Quality & Support

• Maintain accurate case records within agreed SLAs
• Support customer queries on KYC/KYB, AML checks and documentation requests, working with Customer Success
• Flag recurring issues or patterns to the Compliance Operations team for process improvement

Requirements

• Experience in KYC/KYB, transaction monitoring, AML operations, or fraud/risk operations — background in fintech, payments, or an EMI/PSP preferred;
• Working knowledge of AML/CFT fundamentals, EU sanctions regimes (EU, OFAC, UN lists) and PEP screening, with awareness of French regulatory expectations (ACPR guidelines, TRACFIN reporting obligations);
• Strong attention to detail and comfort working through high case volumes without cutting corners;
• Analytical mindset — comfortable digging into transaction patterns, fund flows, and forming a defensible, well-evidenced conclusion
• Takes ownership of their workload and exercises sound judgment — escalating promptly to the MLRO or compliance lead whenever something warrants a closer look.
