About us
Bull is a story. One with a century of European innovation and a working environment where experts design powerful, sustainable, and sovereign digital solutions, enabling states and industries to retain full control over their data and their AI.
Bull is also thousands of engineers, researchers and passionate tech people shaping the future of high-performance computing, AI, and quantum technologies.
Every day, our teams push the boundaries of what is technologically possible – from next-generation HPC architectures to exascale supercomputers – supported by world-class R&D, more than 1,600 patents, and unique end-to-end capabilities spanning hardware design, software engineering, data science and quantum research.
We are a people-centric, innovation-driven company, where collaboration spans Europe, the Americas and India. We share a common vision of a responsible and sustainable innovation that delivers concrete impact for our customers.
Software AI & Cloud Architect (SDA Team)Location: Bull HPC sites in France: Grenoble (38), Les Clayes-sous-bois (78), Bruyères-le-Châtel (91), Bordeaux (33), Rennes (35), Toulouse (31) or Montpellier (34). Other locations in Europe or Remote options available.
Team: Solution, Design & Architecture (SDA)
The Mission: Scaling our Software Architecture
The SDA team is the deeply technical "architectural heart" of our business line. In the past, HPC presales focused primarily on cluster management and compilers. Today, the landscape has shifted: our customers now demand Sovereign Cloud-native architectures and End-to-End AI pipelines.
While we already have dedicated expertise in this field. We are looking for a second Software Architect to to approach these complex deals and design solutions which will large and sensitive AI workloads.
What You’ll Do
- Architect the Future: Design modern software solutions for complex bids, moving beyond standard monitoring to architecting OpenShift ecosystems and multi-tenant environments to architect HPC/AI hybrid cloud environments.
- Scale our Reach: Partner with the existing software lead to cover an increasing volume of deals, ensuring every tender receives top-tier architectural design.
- Be the Technical Voice: Analyze and translate precise customer requirements into airtight technical architectures. You will own the software chapters of our technical proposals.
- On-Site Defense: Stand in front of CIOs and lead researchers to defend our architectural choices and prove our software superiority.
- Product Influence: Act as a bridge to Product Management and R&D. Your frontline experience will directly influence the development of our future "as-a-Service" (aaS) software models.
- Deal Strategy: Collaborate with the wider SDA team to build financially and technically viable solutions that win Tier-0 projects.
The Tech Stack
- Core: Kubernetes (K8s), Docker/Podman, Red Hat OpenShift.
- Virtualization: Expertise in both "Light" (Containers) and "Heavy" (KVM/VM) virtualization.
- AI Pipelines: Deep understanding of training and inference workflows.
- OS Foundation: Native-level fluency in Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu/CoreOS).
- The "Plus": Knowledge of Cluster management software, Slurm, InfiniBand, or parallel file systems.
Who You Are
- The Hybrid Profile: You likely have a Systems Administration background but pivoted into the Cloud/AI world. You know the "plumbing" as well as the "architecture."
- Curious & Autonomous: You don't wait for a manual; you install, test, and break things to understand how they work.
- Resilient: You thrive in the high-pressure environment of a deeply technical presales team managing large-scale tenders.
- Communicator: You can explain the complexity of a container escape or a multi-tenant isolation strategy to a C-level executive as easily as to a developer.
Why Join the SDA Team?
- Technical Elite: Join a group of 25 architects where deep technical knowledge is the primary currency.
- Sovereignty: Under the APE (French State agency) umbrella, you are working for European technological independence.
- Strategic Growth: You are not just a "support" person; you are a key pillar in a team scaling up to meet the most exciting challenges in modern computing.
